About CNC
Introduction

Central Nursing College was founded in 1995.

Since its inception, the school has garnered countless awards and commendations for successful training and placement of hundreds upon hundreds of caring, quality allied health care professionals.

This trend toward dynamic excellence is carried over into the changes that centered around gaining approval by the Board of Vocational Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) to operate a Vocational Nursing program under the new name Central Nursing College.

Central Nursing College continually seeks to provide training programs that will best serve the changing demands of students, business, industry and the community at large.

Mission

Central Nursing College operates under a simple principal: to train individuals to become top tier healthcare professionals that employers want to hire, and keep as staff for a long time. CNC offers innovative, quality programs that are sound in concept, implemented by competent, dedicated faculty and geared toward people seeking to build a strong foundation of knowledge and skills demanded by today’s job market and tomorrow’s changing trends. The programs have undergone subtle but constant changes to the modalities and curriculum in order to reflect this mission.

The administration and faculty are committed to maintaining quality and integrity in all aspects of school operations. The educational philosophy reflects a variety of teaching strategies including the use of digital media and new technologies in the theory (classroom) setting. CNC places particular emphasis on clinical training because the mastery of clinical skills is the key to success on the job.

Educational Philosophy

Innovation and individual attention are the driving forces behind CNC's educational philosophy. We offer quality programs that are sound in concept, implemented by a competent and dedicated faculty, and geared toward serving those who seek a solid foundation of knowledge and skills demanded by today's job market.

CNC focuses on the following objectives:

  • To provide quality, comprehensive, affordable education to meet the particular needs of professionals and employers of the greater Los Angeles area.
  • To evaluate and update educational programs and materials regularly.
  • To provide facilities, environment, training equipment and instructional materials that are conducive to learning and which are in concert with current industry standards.
  • To employ educators who possess advanced experience and knowledge within the field they are set to teach.
  • To establish an environment that motivates and encourages students while emphasizing independent thought and self-discipline.

CNC uses a competency-based module system which builds off knowledge learned in previous modules. Instruction includes lecture, lab, practical demonstrations and participation during lecture. In the Vocational Nursing track, first term students are given fundamentals such as healthcare and hospital regulations, terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, and nursing process. These topics are examined in more depth as the course progresses. Success in subsequent terms as well as overall success in school and beyond is dependent on a solid understanding of these basics.
